Skeena showed us one of her performance works that was showcased in the 2009 Biennale of Sydney, entitled Sacred Clown. This, she told us, was one of her more successful works. As I understand it, the performance was a kind of response to Kevin Rudd’s apology to Aboriginal Australians. It’s a very warm, funny, poignant work. I just love Skeena’s sacred clown persona; in her lovely vulnerability and naivety and sillyness her clown figure manages to cut through a lot of bullshit. I strongly suggest you make the effort to follow this link and see this bizarre and magical performance artwork for yourself; you won’t regret it! http://www.themedicineproject.com/skeena-reece.html
